Winter Flavour Rotation: What Changes When It Gets Cold in Australia
Ice sells all summer. Then the weather turns, the flavour that was perfect in February starts feeling thin and sharp, and people assume the batch changed. It almost never has. Two separate things shift when it gets cold here: what the device does, and what your palate wants.
What genuinely changes in the device
Briefly, because this is the small half of the story. The liquid sealed inside a disposable is glycerol-based, and glycerol is thick to begin with — Vaping Post describes its high dynamic viscosity as exactly what makes wick supply the hard part of hardware design. Liquids thicken further as they cool, so on a cold morning the wick re-soaks more slowly — and no brand publishes the base ratio that would tell you how thick, as we set out in PG vs VG in a sealed disposable. The cell fights the same weather: Battery University's discharge notes say cold raises internal resistance and lowers capacity, and that the loss is temporary, recovering at room temperature.
Stack those and you get the winter message we get most: first draws out of a cold car taste thin and make less vapour, then the device comes good after ten minutes in a pocket. Normal, and self-correcting. If warming it changes nothing, that is a different problem, diagnosed properly in battery or liquid: which runs out first. The rest of this guide is flavour.
Why an Ice-heavy rotation stops working
The cold you feel from a vape is not temperature — it is a cooling agent switching on TRPM8, the same receptor your mouth and skin use to report real cold. The reference literature on that channel describes cold and menthol as working through a similar mechanism, the compound essentially mimicking a drop in temperature. Which explains the seasonality. In January a full freeze is a genuine contrast against a hot day, and that contrast is the whole appeal. In winter it is the same signal the weather is already sending, arriving on top of it — so it stops reading as relief, and the fruit underneath reads flatter because the chill is doing all the talking. We see it in reorders: almost every "has this been reformulated?" message we field over winter is about an iced flavour.

Coming back out of it
